Biography Georgette Tavé

Georgette Tavé (Elbeuf, 1925 – Paris, 2008) was a French painter who began her artistic training after her marriage. She initially studied with Jean Souverbie and later with André Lhote.

The female figure played an important role in Tavé's work. Her paintings are recognisable for their strong colours, simplified forms and distinctive treatment of the human figure, with influences of cubist fragmentation.

Tavé gained international recognition, with her work attracting particular interest in Japan and among collectors internationally. Her paintings are appreciated for their vivid colours, expressive character and joyful approach to figurative painting.
