BIOGRAPHY OF PETER DE GRAAFF

Peter de Graaff (Utrecht, 1961) is known for his experimental approach to painting. Interiors play an important role in his work. His paintings often begin with photographs of historic interiors, which he uses as a starting point. Layer by layer, he builds up the image, allowing traces of the underlying layers to remain visible.

His painterly interventions are diverse, playful and light-hearted, creating works in which history and contemporary expression come together.

De Graaff has exhibited at Museum Voorlinden, Berger in Amsterdam (NL), Lecoutre in Knokke (B), Lorre in Dendermonde (B), and Franken in Paris and Reims (F), among others.
