A distinctive landscape by the Dutch painter Phil Grisel, depicting a rolling countryside beneath a luminous blue sky and a pale sun. The composition is built up from broad, expressive areas of colour, with undulating fields in muted pink, ochre and green contrasted against the various shades of blue in the sky and distant hills.

Phil Grisel (Tiel, 1923–2008) was a Dutch painter whose oeuvre encompassed landscapes, portraits, nudes and abstract compositions. His work does not easily fit within a single stylistic category: throughout his career he explored both figurative and abstract approaches and worked in a variety of techniques.
