Biography Karl Feiertag (Klosterneuburg, Austria, 1874 - 1944)

Karl Feiertag studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with Franz Rumpler, Kasimir Pochwalski and Josef Mathias Trenkwald. He also worked in Munich for various advertising agencies and moved to Weidling with his wife . In 1914 he became a member of the association of local artists in Klosterneuburg. He mainly painted landscapes, cityscapes and figures. His artist postcards with motifs of children, animals, dolls and teddy bears were sold en masse; including children in Volendam's costume. The painter was one of the artists who regularly traveled to Holland between 1900 and 1910 to paint the fishermen's life, the bulb fields and the colorful costumes of Volendam and Marken.
