Champage cocktail 'Belle Epoque'

Champage cocktail 'Belle Epoque' - Lyklema Fine Art

This nice gouache from Heiligenstadt is typical of the time and has something sweet and seductive. We're looking forward to a party. Nice cocktail, laughing, chatting, zipping. Not just Champagne but a cocktail with gin and lemon. A Kir Royal is too sweet for us. The classic among cocktails was first made in 1915, in the legendary New York bar in Paris (later Harry's New York Bar), a hotspot of the jet set during La Belle Epoque. The combination of Gin and champagne gives a great kick and makes the French 75 cocktail highly recommended. Drink it as cold as possible!

To make the French 75 champagne cocktail, fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes, 6 cl Gin, 3 cl lemon juice and 2 to 3 teaspoons of sugar water. Close shaker and shake for 10 seconds. Pour into a flute and top up with brut champagne. (don't pour too quickly) Garnish with lemon zest.
